Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-02-26.

Your privacy is important. This site collects minimal information and does not sell it. We only share information with third parties in a manner that respects your privacy and is disclosed below.

Who this is

This is the Brooktrails Community Resources website. It is not run by the Brooktrails Township Community Services District (BTCSD), but is currently run by a single resident of Brooktrails.

What we collect

We use Plausible Analytics to understand how the site is used. Plausible is privacy-focused:

For details, see Plausible’s data policy.

We do not collect account information, emails, or other personal data through this site unless you explicitly provide it. For example, we provide various services that require an account. When you use a service that requires an account, we will collect the information necessary to provide that service.

Accounts and services

Some parts of this site link to or provide services that require an account. These services may change over time and currently include Forgejo, Matrix, and Harbor.

If you create an account on any of these services, we will collect and store the information needed to operate them (typically a username, authentication data such as a password hash or access tokens, and service-specific settings). These services also generate operational and security logs which may include your IP address, User-Agent, and account activity (for example, sign-ins and administrative actions).

Harbor also maintains an audit log of actions (such as operations performed, associated username, resource, and timestamp), and provides audit-log retention controls.

How long we keep it

Analytics data is retained only as long as needed for aggregate statistics. We do not store logs for the purpose of identifying individual visitors.

Some services may have different retention policies. For example, depending on configuration, our Matrix service may retain message history and related metadata for long periods, potentially indefinitely (for example, if no message retention policy is configured or enforced).

In limited cases, we may federate Matrix traffic between our production and test instances. If a room is federated between those instances, message history and metadata may be replicated to both, and deleting data from one instance may not automatically delete it from the other.

Your rights

You can use the site without agreeing to anything. If you are in the EU or other regions with data protection laws, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal data; because we do not collect personal data from visitors, there is nothing we hold that identifies you. If you do not wish to be identified, please do not sign up for an account. You will be unable to use any of the services that require an account.

Changes

We may update this policy occasionally. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.

Operational logs

Our servers may temporarily process and log basic request metadata (such as IP address, User-Agent, and requested URL) for security, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting. We do not use these logs to track you across websites.

We aim to minimize what we log and to retain operational logs only for as long as we reasonably need them for the purposes above, after which they are deleted or rotated. Retention may vary by system and may be longer if needed to investigate abuse, address reliability issues, or comply with legal obligations.
